PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | It was a tough Friday for Grambling State softball as the Tigers fell 12-3 against Prairie View A&M is the series opener at the Prairie View A&M Softball Complex.
Prairie View A&M (20-15, 16-0 SWAC) struck first scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning giving them a 6-0 lead.
Grambling State ( 24-15-1, 10-5) answered with one run in the top of the second. Deija Russell sent one through the right side and Tytianna Robinson came around to score putting them on the board 6-1.
The Panthers plated four runs off three hits in the third inning to extend their lead 10-1. In the bottom of the fourth, PVAMU brought in two more runners and put the game out of reach 12-1 .
GSU Cadashia Collins smacked her first career homer with a two-run shot in the sixth inning.
Erin Gibbs (7-3) was charged with the loss in the circle, allowing four runs in on three hits in 0.1 innings of work.
Caitlin Massey (8-5) picked up the win, going five innings and giving up three runs on five hits. She struck out four.
