GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University baseball team smashed three homers en route to an 11-1 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday afternoon at the Tori Hunter Baseball Complex.
The Tigers improved to 12-15 overall and 8-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The victory also secured GSU's second SWAC series sweep of the season. UAPB dropped to 8-19, 1-8 SWAC.
Cameron Bufford had the big bat for the Tigers, going 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs. He racked up a game-high five RBI. Keylon Mack was also strong for GSU, going 3-for-4 with a home run.
Kerry Boykins (1-0) was masterful on the mound for Grambling State, holding UAPB to no runs on three hits. He also fanned two batters and walked a pair.
Bufford got the game started with a bang, smacking two-run homers in the first and third innings, giving GSU a 4-0 lead. Mack immediately followed Bufford with a solo shot of his own to right field.
Grambling State opened up a 10-0 on the Golden Lions following a five run sixth inning.
The Tigers added one more run in the ninth inning for the final score of 11-1.
UAPB pitcher Andre Green (1-4) was charged with the loss after giving up five runs on four hits in three innings pitched.

Grambling State travels to Starkville, Miss. for a midweek game versus Mississippi State on Tuesday, April 4. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m at Dudy Noble Field.
