PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | The Grambling State University baseball dropped its regular season finale to Prairie View A&M, falling 6-1 at Tankersly Field.
The loss didn't affect much in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) standings, as GSU clinched the West Division No. 1 seed in the conference tournament earlier in the week. The Tigers finishes the regular season 27-24 overall and 22-7 in SWAC play.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, Grambling State cracked the score column. Following back-to-back singles to open the Tigers' half of the inning, Keanu Jacobs-Guishard laced an RBI single into left field.
However, the afternoon belonged to the PVAMU (19-35, 15-14 SWAC) as the Panthers scored two runs in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth, while holding GSU scoreless the rest of the way, to claim the 6-1 win.
Grambling State was led at the plate by Kyle Walker and Trevor Hatton, with both players going 2-for-3.
Kerry Boykins (4-2) was charged with loss after surrendering four runs on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 5.0 innings of work.
