NACOGDOCHES, Texas | The Grambling State University baseball team dropped a midweek contest at Stephen F. Austin, falling 11-6 on Wednesday night at Jaycees Field.
GSU (21-22) tried to battled back late, but erasing an early 6-0 deficit proved to be too much for the Tigers. Starting pitcher Jacorey Boudreaux (1-5) had a tough outing, surrendering five runs on two with four walks in 2.1 innings pitched.
Keanu Jacobs-Guishard was a bright spot for the GSU at the plate. The redshirt-sophomore from Philipsburg, St. Martin, went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
Following a scoreless opening two inning, SFA (20-23) scored six runs in the bottom of the third to claim a 6-0 lead. Cameron Bufford got Grambling State on the board with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. Later in the inning, Jacobs-Guishard plated GSU's second run, scoring on a wild pitch.
Jacobs-Guishard cut the deficit to 6-3 with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. However, the Lumberjacks scored the next five runs, taking an 11-3 lead into the ninth inning.
Grambling State added three runs in the closing frame, but was able to erase the gap, falling 11-6.
