Grambling, La. | The Grambling State Women's volleyball team, led by head coach
Paige Phillips, has announced its 2023 schedule. Packed with 8 exhilarating home games and a multitude of away matches, fans can look forward to an action-packed season of intense competition.
The schedule kicks off on August 12, with the Black and Gold Scrimmage in Grambling, LA, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. Fans can expect a high level of competition and spirited performances from the players.
The team's first exhibition match is scheduled on August 23, against Henderson State in Grambling, LA. This exhibition match will provide an excellent opportunity for the team to fine-tune their skills and strategies before the official season begins.
Following the exhibition, the Grambling volleyball team will hit the road for a stint of away games. On August 25, the team will face off against Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, LA. Later that day, they will take on UTEP, still in Hammond, LA. On August 26, the team will battle against Washington, closing out play at the Southeastern Louisiana Tournament. The excitement continues on August 29, 2023, when Grambling hosts the University of Louisiana Monroe in Grambling, LA.
As September begins, the team will travel to Abilene, TX, for a series of thrilling matches. On September 1, 2023, Grambling will compete against Providence. The following day, September 2, 2023, the team will face the University of North Dakota in another exciting showdown; later that evening, they will take on Abilene Christian University, making for a packed day of competitive volleyball.
The month of September sees the team return to Louisiana for more heated battles in the LA Tech Tournament in Ruston, LA. On September 7, 2023, the team will face Little Rock, followed by matches against Lamar and LA Tech on September 8. The Grambling volleyball team will continue their journey, clashing with Northwestern State on September 12 in Natchitoches, LA.
Wrapping up regular season play, the team will travel to Alabama for a few more intense matchups. On September 15, Grambling will take on Troy University in Troy, AL, followed by a match against the University of Alabama on September 16 in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Conference play will consist of 16 games, kicking off on September 24, where the team will play Texas Southern in Houston, TX. As the season progresses, Grambling will host several exciting matches, including a home game against UAPB on October 5. The team will then hit the road on October 8, facing Mississippi Valley State at UAPB, followed by back-to-back matches against Alabama A&M and Jackson State University, also at UAPB.
Continuing with their conference schedule, Grambling will travel to Baton Rouge, LA, on October 15 to play against Southern University, and then to Lorman, MS, on October 16, 2023, for a match against Alcorn State University. The team will return to its home court for a match against Texas Southern on October 22 and Prairie View on October 23.
On October 29, Grambling will head to Daytona, FL, to face off against Alabama State and BCU in two exciting back-to-back games. The following day, the team will wrap up their Florida trip with a match against FAMU. As the regular season nears its conclusion, Grambling will return to UAPB on November 2, for another matchup against UAPB. The team's last home games will be played against Southern University on November 12, and Alcorn State University on November 13, which will also be the team's Senior Night.
