Farr’s Second Half Goal Boosts GSU Past PVAMU 1-0

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Second half heroics by Kennedy Farr helped lift Grambling State to a 1-0 victory over Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Prairie View A&M on Sunday afternoon at the PVAMU Soccer Complex. 
 
The Tigers' defense was once again strong, notching its second shutout in a row and limiting the Panthers to three shots. 
 
The win improved GSU to 4-4-3 overall and 2-0 in SWAC play. PVAMU fell to 1-7-0, 1-1 in conference. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first half that saw Grambling keep offensive pressure on the Panthers, the Tigers broke through on the scoreboard when Karlyn Judge led Kennedy Farr to the top of the 18-yard box with a defense-splitting pass, which Farr shot into the back of the net, putting GSU up 1-0 in the 52nd minute. 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Grambling State outshot Prairie View A&M 21-3. The Tigers placed 10 on goal while the Panthers put two on frame. 
  • GSU held a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks. 
  • GSU committed 12 fouls. PVAMU committed 13. 
  • Madison Covey-Taylor made one save in 64 minutes of action for the Tigers. Aimee Benton also made a save in 26 minutes of work. 
 
UP NEXT
Grambling State returns home on Friday, Sept. 29 for a match versus Alabama State. First kick is set for 4:30 p.m. at the GSU Soccer Complex.
