Grambling State defeats Prairie View 8-1

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team dominated Prairie View A&M University 8-1 Friday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.

The game opened with a goal from Prairie View (1-10-3, 0-3-3), however Grambling State responded with six first half goals.

Olivia Kowall opened the scoring for Grambling State, finding the net in the 12th minute. Just ten minutes later, she struck again, this time assisted by Sophia Lezizidis, bringing the score to 2-1. The scoring continued with a goal from Forward Jayla Gage in the 24th minute, with assists from Khori Banks and Adrianna Pratt, making it 3-1.

Grambling continued to press, with Jayla Gage scoring again in the 31st minute, assisted by Aria Whitney and Sophia Lezizidis, extending their lead to 4-1. The momentum kept building as Sophia Lezizidis added another goal in the 34rd minute, assisted by Aubrey Salazar, bringing the score to 5-1.

Just before halftime, Sophia Lazari netted a goal, assisted by Ronya Halleen, extending the gap to 6-1. The second half saw Kennedy Farr score in the 54th minute, furthering Grambling's lead to 7-1, assisted by Khori Banks.

The game concluded with a 70th minute goal from Sophia Lezizidis. 

With this win, Grambling State improved to 6-8-3 overall and 4-2-0 in the SWAC.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
Grambling State rebounded from an early goal by Prairie View to dominate the match, scoring six first-half goals. Olivia Kowall,Jayla Gage, and Sophia Lezizidis each had braces. Sophia Lazari scored a goal just before the half. Kennedy Farr contributed another goal in the second half, leading to a 8-1 victory.
