BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Grambling State University men's and women's track & field teams turned in several top individual performances at the 2024 SWAC Indoor Track & field Championships over the weekend.
In the running events,
Ivory Davis clinched second place in the women's 60m hurdles with a personal record time of 8.56.
Dante Brown notched a personal best in the men's 60m with a 6.83 to lock up fourth place.
Kayla Ford represented Grambling State in the women's 400m, placing eighth after clocking in with a personal record time of 58.23.
In the field events,
Dior Nicholson continued to showcase why she's one of the best in the conference, securing second place in women's shot put with a throw of 13.80m.
Jamie Richardson and Pearl Moss were solid in the women's high jump, both grabbing podium spots. Richardson's jump of 1.71 meters landed her in second place, while Moss leaped to a personal record 1.67m.
Marissa Tell was solid in the women's triple jump, placed seventh with a distance of 11.85m which was also a personal record for her.
In the team standings, the Grambling State women's team finished sixth with 53 points. In the men's standings, GSU nabbed ninth place with 27.5 points.
Florida A&M claimed the women's championship (122) and Texas Southern won the men's title (141).
Saturday's top performances:
Jet Brown secured a SWAC championship in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.53m.
Lawrence Lambert placed third (7.35m)
Nick Bailey's personal record of 1.98m gave him fourth place in the men's high jump.
In the women's long jump,
Shatara Johnson was impressive, securing second place with a jump of 5.89m.
Jalen Mays wrapped up seventh place in the men's shot put (14.09m).
