RUSTON, La. | The Grambling State University Men's and Women's track and field tems opened the 2024 outdoor season on a high note with several notable performances in the Jim Mize Invitational at Louisiana Tech University over the weekend.
In the field events,
Dior Nicholson placed fourth in Women Shot Put with a throw of 12.88m.
Jean Dixon clinched third in Men's Discus Throw with a throw of 39.14m
Jamie Richardson placed third in the Women High Jump, alongside teammate Pearl Moss who placed fifth.
Amari Wrightsil was solid in the Women's 200m finishing fifth with a time of 25.59.
Saturday's Top Performers:
Jahorous Turner, Anthony Davis, and
Nick Bailey finished first, second, and third in Men High Jump and all set personal records.
The women's 400x100 team of
Shatara Johnson,
Dynia Lewis,
Kayla Ford and Journie Mayfield claimed second place with a time of 46.16, beating out the team of
Ivory Davis,
Amari Wrightsil, Ty Glasco and
Kyla Blockett (46.22).
Adian Starling set a personal record and placed second in the Men's 3000m 9:35.51
Shamaya Joiner opened the outdoor season on a high note, placing third in the women's long jump at the Jim Mize Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech over the weekend. She clinched a podium spot with a leap of 5.74m.
Terrance Bell Jr finished first in Men Shot Put with a throw of 14.15m
Dante Brown second in Men's 100m 10.39
Kyla Blockett finished third in the Women's 100m.
