GSU (11-16 overall, 8-1 SWAC) erased an early 3-1 deficit, scoring 18 unanswered runs in the win.

The entire Grambling State batting order made PVAMU (13-18, 4-6 SWAC) pitchers pay. Ten Tigers registered hits with nine batters driving at least a run. Tiger Borom and Ashton Inman led GSU at the plate with both players pickup up four hits.

Borom went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBI while Inman was 4-for-5 with three RBI.

Mason Martinez (6-1) went the distance for GSU on the mound, working 8.0 innings and striking out six. He surrendered three runs on six hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With PVAMU holding a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning, Cameron Bufford smacked a solo home run to pull the Tigers within a run.
  • After the Panthers pushed their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth, GSU began to turn the tide of the game in the fifth. After loading the bases with no outs, Bufford drew a walk to make it 3-2. Kyle Walker then put the ball in play, grounding out to third base, but driving in a run to tie the game. Ashton Inman laced a 2-RBI single up the middle, putting the Tigers in front 5-3. GSU wouldn't trail again.
  • Grambling State turned on the heat in the seventh and eighth innings, scoring 14 runs over those two frames, breaking the game open and putting the game completely out of reach.
