Richardson Claims Podium Spot in Women’s High Jump at SWAC Championships

BATON ROUGE, La. | Jaime Richardson highlighted several strong performances on day two of the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Outdoor Championships at A.W. Mumford Stadium, claiming third place in the women's high jump. 
 
The Oklahoma City, Okla. native clinched her spot on the podium with a jump of 1.72m. Bethany Peoples grabbed eighth place in the event with a personal record of 1.56m.
 
Grambling State opened the day with a pair of solid results in the men's and women's shot put. Dior Nicholson snagged fifth place on the women's side with a throw of 13.05m. Terrence Bell Jr. paced the men with a fifth-place result on a toss of 14.72m.
 
Jalen Mays finished in eighth (14.12m). 
 
In the women's heptathlon, Anaya Jones grabbed ninth place. Her event was highlighted by a fourth-place result in the heptathlon high jump (1.52m).
 
In the men's decathlon, Anthony Days wrapped up eighth place. His best event was the decathlon high jump where he grabbed fourth (1.79m)
 
In track action, Dynia Lewis and Ivory Davis qualified for the women's 100m hurdles finals. Lewis clocked in with the third fastest time of 13.90. Davis crossed the line with the sixth best time (13.93). 
 
Amari Wrightsil put herself in position the claim the SWAC title in the women's 400m preliminaries, finishing in second place with a qualifying time of 55.00, just behind Quincy Penn of Alabama State (54.76). 
 
Dante Brown blazed the track in the men's 100m prelims, qualifying for Saturday's final with a time of 10.45. Jet Brown also qualified for the finals with a time of 10.55. 
 
Aidan Starling closed the day in the 3,000m steeple chase in seventh place (11:26.26)
