NEW ORLEANS, La. | Grambling State came up just short on the road Tuesday night, falling 65-63 to Tulane at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in New Orleans. The matchup featured 11 lead changes and seven ties as the Tigers battled the Green Wave down to the final possession.

Derrius Ward led Grambling State (3-5) with 18 points off the bench, knocking down three three-pointers and going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Randarius Jones added 12 points and five rebounds, while Jamil Muttilib provided a spark with 11 points in 15 minutes, including a pair of timely threes. Jimel Lane nearly finished with a double-double, recording eight points, eight rebounds and a team-high five assists.

GSU controlled a 31-30 halftime edge behind balanced scoring, then built its largest lead at 44-37 early in the second half after a fast-break layup from Roderick Coffee III. Tulane (6-2) responded with a series of runs, highlighted by strong performances from Curtis Williams Jr. and Rowan Brumbaugh, who each finished with 17 points.

Trailing 65-63 in the final seconds, Grambling's last look—a three-point attempt by Jamil Muttilib—missed at the buzzer.
