Tigers Hit Three Homers, Fall to Louisiana Tech 14-6
GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State led 6-3 in the sixth inning, but couldn't hold off a late rally by Louisiana Tech, falling 14-6 on Tuesday night at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

GSU dropped to 9-14 on the year, while La. Tech improved to 15-10.

The Tiger outhit the Bulldogs 11-8, hitting three home runs in the loss. Chris Marcellus, Cameron Hill and Chenar Brown all homered. It was another showcase of power for GSU as the Tigers have now hit 17 home runs in their past six games.

Hill also led Grambling State offensively going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Brown was 2-for-4 with and double and one RBI and Marcellus went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Ruston, La. native Nick Robinson got the start on the mound against his hometown team, pitching two innings and surrendering one run on one hit. The G-Men used six arms out of the bullpen with Javier Martinez (2-2) being charged with the loss after working 1.2 innings and surrendering four runs on three hits.

Louisiana Tech's Garrison Berkley got the scoring started in the bottom of the first with a solo homer to left field.

After a scoreless second inning, Marcellus sparked the Tigers with a solo shot, tying the game 1-1 in the third.

The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third when Berkley hit his second homer of the day.

Grambling State took the lead in the top of the fourth on a pair of homers. Hill walloped his team-leading sixth home run with a solo blast to tie to game 2-2. Two batters later, Brown smacked a solo homer to centerfield, giving the Tigers a 3-2 advantage.

After the Bulldogs tied the game on a home run in the bottom of the fourth, Jaylyn Hill opened the fifth with a leadoff double. After Bennett moved to third on a grounder, Hill ripped an RBI single through the left side of the infield, pushing GSU ahead 4-3.

Hill put more pressure on the La. Tech pitching staff after stealing second and third. An error by La. Tech's pitcher on a grounder by Brown allowed Hill to score and made it a 5-3 game. An RBI single by Shannon Martin grew GSU's advantage to 6-3

The game got away from Tigers after the start of the sixth inning, however. Pitching woes plagued the Tigers down the stretch. Prior to the sixth, the GSU pitching staff issued just one walk. Grambling State issued seven walks and hit four batters over the final three frames.

GSU was outscored 11-0 from the sixth inning on, falling 14-6.
