FORT WORTH, TX. | The Grambling State University men's and women's track & field teams put forth strong performances at the 2025 TCU Alumni Invitational.
In the women's long jump,
Shamya Joiner delivered an outstanding performance, securing 6th place with a jump of 19-5 (5.92m).
Kyla Blockett had a standout showing in the women's 200m dash, finishing 14th with a time of 24.65 seconds, while
Kayla Ford placed 17th in 24.72 seconds. In the women's 100m dash, Ladonna Brown clocked 12.45 seconds, finishing 27th, followed by Sage Connor (12.80 seconds) in 30th, and
Denver Winters (13.03 seconds) in 32nd.
The women's high jump saw
Bethany Peoples clear 4-11 (1.50m) to tie for 12th place, while
Ciera Smith also cleared 4-9 (1.45m), placing 14th.
For the men's team,
Marcus Kennedy excelled in the high jump, clearing 6-8.75 (2.05m) to finish in 2nd place.Â
Dakari Betts impressed in the 110m hurdles, securing 7th place with a time of 14.55 seconds. In the men's 100m dash,
Savantez Phillips ran a time of 10.63 seconds, claiming 13th place, with
Elijah Beal finishing 26th in 10.99 seconds.Â
CJ Guidry posted a solid 21.72 seconds in the men's 200m dash, finishing 15th.
In the men's shot put,
Jalen Peel represented Grambling State, finishing 9th with a mark of 46-0.25 (14.03m), while his teammate
Jaylen Mays secured 10th place with a throw of 45-3.75 (13.81m).
UP NEXT
Grambling State University's track & field teams will head to Prairie View, Texas, for the PVAMU Relays on March 28 and 29. The women's and men's teams will compete in the outdoor track and field event hosted by Prairie View A&M University.
