GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State opened its SWAC series against Arkansas–Pine Bluff with an explosive offensive display, run-ruling the Golden Lions 16-1 in five innings on Friday afternoon at the GSU Softball Complex.
With the win, Grambling State improves to 15-21 overall and 8-7 in SWAC play, while UAPB falls to 10-27 overall and 5-14 in conference action.
The Lady Tigers wasted no time asserting control, scoring in all four innings they batted — including a six-run second and a five-run third. Grambling pounded out 11 hits, drew seven walks, and capitalized on five UAPB errors.
Kamryn Broussard led the offensive onslaught, going 3-for-3 with a double, four runs scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases.
Christalyn Higgins added three RBIs, including a sacrifice fly and a two-run single, while
Cadashia Collins finished 2-for-2 with two runs, an RBI, and two steals.
Tavia Leadon,
Deija Russell, and
Ahsunte' Specks each contributed RBIs, while
Kaytlyn Moore added a pinch-hit RBI single in the fourth.
The Lady Tigers were aggressive on the bases as well, swiping eight total bags.
Audrey Richardson (6-5) earned the complete-game win in the circle, scattering four hits and one earned run across five innings. She struck out six and walked three, also hitting one batter.
Grambling scored four runs in the first, added six in the second, five in the third, and one final run in the fourth, cruising to its largest win of the season in conference play.

Grambling State looks to clinch the series on Saturday, April 19, with a doubleheader against UAPB beginning at 12 p.m. at the GSU Softball Complex.
