Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Grambling State University baseball team put together a complete team performance in route to a 13-0 win over No. 2 seed Florida A&M, on Friday night in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament at Rickwood Field.
It was GSU's second run-rule win of the day, with the Tigers eliminating Southern 16-2 earlier.
GSU (26-27) put on an offensive show, registering 14 hits on the night. Junior outfielder
Trey Bridges hit his second grand slam of the tournament, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Cameron Hill continued to have a hot bat as, leading the Tigers going 4-for-5 three RBI and double.
Chenar Brown also picked up three hits, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Junior right hander
Taylor Dooley (3-2) got the start for the Tigers put on a stellar performance. Dooley pitched seven innings of shutout baseball while striking out seven and limiting the Rattlers to five hits.
Grambling State opened the scoring in the third inning. After plating the first run of the game courtesy of a FAMU error, Hill made it 2-0 with an RBI single. The Tigers grew the lead to 5-0 following a two-RBI double by Brown and an RBI single from
Chris Marcellus.
Leading 6-0 in the fourth, Bridges broke the game open with a grand slam to right field, growing the lead to 10-0.
The Tigers wrapped up the scoring with three runs in the seventh.
FAMU's Jay Campbell (4-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs on six hits in 3.1 innings.
