Jacksonville, Fla. | Grambling State's Quincy Chery capped his outdoor season Friday evening with a strong showing in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the 2025 NCAA East First Round, hosted at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville.

Chery ran in heat one of the quarterfinals and clocked a time of 50.59 seconds, finishing 18th overall in a competitive field of 24 athletes. He placed seventh in his heat, narrowly missing qualification for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

The top three finishers from each heat and the next three fastest times advanced to the semifinals, with Chery falling just outside that group in a tightly contested race.

Friday's quarterfinal race marked the end of a standout campaign for Chery, who consistently ranked among the SWAC's top hurdlers throughout the season.
