GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State University student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom this year, with two programs producing perfect single-year NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores.
As a program, GSU scored a 964 single year APR and a 961 multi-year score.
"Seeing our APR scores continue to rise reflects the intentional effort we've made to prioritize academic excellence across all sports," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Trayvean D. Scott. "It's not just about compliance—it's about creating a culture where our student-athletes are equipped to succeed in the classroom, in competition, and beyond."
Grambling State football improved significantly, posting the the highest football APR in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
Women's tennis and women's cross country posted scores of 1,000. In total, five teams improved upon their scores from last season (baseball, football, women's basketball, women's cross country and women's track).
14 teams exceeded the multi-year threshold of 930, with women's tennis scoring a perfect 1,000. Four programs improved their multi-year scores (baseball, football, women's soccer and men's cross country). Multi-year scores were tabulated from 2020-21 to 2023-24.
