BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Grambling State University baseball placed three student-athletes on the 2026 SWAC Preseason All-Conference teams, announced on Tuesday morning.
Chris Marcellus and
Trey Bridges earned first-team honors, while
Cameron Hill landed second-team recognition.
Marcellus, a catcher from Rowlett, Texas, finished the 2025 campaign with a .280 batting average with 39 RBI, 12 doubles, six home runs and one triple. Marcellus put together 12 multi-RBI games and stole four bases in five attempts. Defensively, he caught 11 runners stealing.
Bridges had a breakout season in his first year at GSU. He batted .350 with 77 RBI. He homered nine time while hitting 14 doubles and one triple. He also had 14 steals. In the 2025 SWAC Baseball Tournament, he accomplished a feat that few others have, hitting two grand slams in the same day.
Hill showcased tremendous power, hitting a team-leading 16 homeruns last season. He batted .322 with 10 doubles, one triple and 76 RBI. He was also 15-17 on stolen base attempts. In just his second game with GSU, a 20-10 win over rival Southern, he tallied 11 RBI, two homers and two doubles.
