BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Grambling State men's and women's track & field top finishes to open to the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Indoor Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday afternoon.
Taniyah Thomas earned GSU's first podium of the weekend after nothing third place in the women's weight throw, with a toss of 16.14m.
Skylar Hundall continued his dominant indoor season, qualifying for Sunday's men's 1-mile final. He qualified in first place 4:31.43. He also competed in the men's 800m preliminaries, clocking in with a personal best of 1:55.14.
Dakari Betts and
Savantez Phillips earns spots in the men's 60m hurdle finals, nabbing the final two spots. Phillips cross the line with a time of 8.16, while Betts clocked in at 8.19.
Aamerie Anderson narrowly missed the finals in the women's 60m hurdle. She notched a personal record time of 8.68, finishing just behind Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Diamonae Thomas who turned in an 8.67.
Jonathan Berry and
Jalen Peel reached the Men's shot put finals. Berry set a personal record with a throw of 14.67m (48-01.75) for seventh place, followed by
Jalen Peel in ninth at 14.31m.
