Jackson, Miss. | Grambling State opened the 2026 season with two closely contested games but suffered narrow losses to Dallas Christian College, 5–4, and Arlington Baptist, 4–3, on Saturday in Jackson, Mississippi at the JSU Softball Field.

In the opener, the Tigers erased an early deficit by scoring two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2–2.

After Dallas Christian regained the lead, Grambling State rallied again in the seventh behind a two-run single from Logan-Ray Gaspar to knot the score at 4–4.

Dallas Christian answered with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.

Grambling State totaled 12 hits in game one, led by Kamryn Broussard and Toni Purchas with two hits apiece.

In the nightcap, Grambling State traded runs with Arlington Baptist throughout the game.

The Tigers took a 2–1 lead in the fifth and later regained the advantage in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Broussard.

Arlington Baptist capitalized on defensive miscues in the bottom of the inning, scoring two unearned runs to walk off with a 4–3 victory.

Broussard drove in two runs in game two, while Jaidan Richard tossed 7.2 innings in the circle.

Grambling State continues play on Sunday, Feb. 8 with a pair of games, opening against Jackson State University before facing Alabama A&M University in Jackson, Mississippi.
