GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State Tigers softball team fell to Arkansas-Pine Bluff 9–4, on Friday afternoon at the GSU Softball Complex.
UAPB jumped out early with a four-run first inning highlighted by a three-run home run from Lyric Perry.
Grambling State responded in the third inning, plating three runs behind RBI singles from
Kamryn Broussard and
Cadashia Collins.
Z'Natria Evans added a sacrifice fly from to cut the deficit to 4–3.
The Tigers tied the game in the sixth inning when
Ziya Donaldson delivered an RBI double to even the score at 4–4.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff regained control in the seventh inning scoring five runs to pull away and secure the victory.
Donaldson and
Logan-Ray Gaspar each recorded two hits to lead Grambling State.
Broussard, Collins and Evans each drove in a run.
Jaidan Richard took the loss in the circle tossing a complete game while allowing nine runs on 11 hits.
