MONROE, La. | Grambling State jumped out early but could not keep pace with a powerful offensive showing by the University of Louisiana at Monroe, falling 12–4 on Wednesday evening at the ULM Softball Complex.
Grambling State struck first in the opening inning when
Logan-Ray Gaspar delivered a two-RBI single to left center, scoring
Kamryn Broussard and
Tavia Leadon for a 2–0 advantage.
ULM (14-9) responded immediately with a four-run bottom half of the first, highlighted by Maryssa Zenzen's inside-the-park two-run home run to seize a 4–2 lead.
The Warhawks extended the margin in the second inning, plating three more runs to move in front 7–2.
Grambling (6-8) showed fight in the third.
Gaspar added an RBI sacrifice fly before
Cadashia Collins followed with an RBI single to trim the deficit to 7–4.
ULM answered again in the bottom of the third and then broke the game open with four runs in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory.
Gaspar led the Lady Tigers offensively, going 1-for-2 with three RBIs.
Broussard paced the team with two hits and two runs scored, while Collins,
Hailey Hughes, and
Christalyn Higgins each added a hit.
Jaidan Richard (1-4) was charged with the loss.

Grambling State returns home to host Texas Southern University in a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at the GSU Softball Complex. First pitch is set for Friday at 1 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. with the finale scheduled for 2 p.m.
