Tigers Posts Strong Showing at Jim Mize Invitational

RUSTON, La. | The Grambling State track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the Jim Mize Invitational, highlighted by multiple event titles, top-three finishes, and several strong marks across both track and field competition.

Carson Lowe led the Tigers with a first-place finish in the men's javelin, recording a throw of 60.74 meters (199-03).

On the women's side, Jada David captured the event title in the triple jump with a mark of 12.68 meters (41-7.25), narrowly edging teammate Marissa Tell, who placed second at 12.67 meters (41-7.00) to give Grambling State a one-two finish in the event.

Angel Sanders added another victory for the Tigers, winning the women's long jump with a leap of 5.78 meters (18-11.75), while Madison Holloway placed second with a mark of 5.65 meters (18-6.50).

Holloway also secured a runner-up finish in the high jump clearing 1.66 meters (5-5.25), and added a fourth-place finish in the javelin.

Y'Niese Colbert continued her strong season with a second-place finish in the women's 800 meters, clocking 2:22.91.

Aniyah Conley added a third-place finish in the women's 400 meters with a time of 56.70.

Aamerie Anderson placed third in the women's 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 14.08.

In the men's field events, Issac Jenkins placed second in the long jump with a mark of 7.40 meters (24-3.50), followed by Lawerence Lambertin third at 7.04 meters (23-1.25).

Jalen Peel delivered a pair of strong performances, placing second in the discus (45.70m) and third in the hammer throw (44.57m).

Dillon Houston added a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 46.88 meters (153-9).

On the track, Savantez Phillips led the Tigers in the men's 110-meter hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 13.99.

Justin Greenwood recorded a fifth-place finish in the men's 800 meters (1:55.83).

Grambling State also saw strong contributions from its women's throws group, as Deserae Charles placed second in the shot put (11.88m) and added a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw.
