Grambling State Falls Twice in Road Doubleheader at Texas Southern

HOUSTON, TX | Grambling State came up short in both games of Saturday's Southwestern Athletic Conference doubleheader, falling 2-1 and 9-1 to Texas Southern at Turner Park.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Grambling State (14-28) received a strong outing in the circle from Jaidan Richard.

She went the distance and allowed just two runs on six hits.

Texas Southern scratched across both of its runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single.

Grambling State managed five hits, with Kamryn Broussard, Cadashia Collins, and Alexis Hope each recording hits.

Hope delivered the Tigers lone RBI in the seventh inning bringing home Broussard to cut the deficit to 2-1.

In game two, Texas Southern (28-10) broke things open early, capitalizing on defensive miscues to score three unearned runs in the second inning before adding three more in the third to take control.

Hailei Harrell was charged with the loss after allowing six runs, three earned, in 2.1 innings of work.

Grambling State used three pitchers in the contest.

Offensively, Grambling State was limited to four hits.

Z'Natria Evans, Kamryn Broussard, Tavia Leadon, and Collins each recorded a hit.
