Grambling State Baseball Looks to Keep Momentum Going at UAPB

PINE BLUFF, Ark. | The Grambling State University baseball team is coming off a big sweep of Florida A&M last weekend, making a jump in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) standings. This week, the Tigers head to Pine Bluff, Ark. to take on the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff is another important series.

Series History (Since 2010): GSU leads 45-34 
 
GSU (19-26 overall, 16-8 SWAC) and UAPB (20-29, 13-11) are jockeying for position in the SWAC Tournament set to take place in Birmingham, Ala. later this month. Since 2010, Grambling State holds 45-34 series lead over the Golden Lions. The Tigers have also won six consecutive series versus UAPB. 
 
Grambling State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff last met in the 2025 SWAC Baseball Tournament when GSU claimed a 13-6 win. 
 
The Tigers moved into a tie for third place in in the SWAC afternoon sweeping FAMU last weekend. GSU put up 37 runs against on the conference's top pitching staffs. 
 
Cameron Hill had a sensational weekend earning SWAC Hitter of the Week honors after batting .636 (7-for-11) with 11 RBI, two home runs, including a grand slam and one double in the series. Hill currently leads the SWAC in homers (10) and is now batting .301 for the year. 
 
Grambling State, winners of eight of its previous 10 games, has hit the ball well recently. Four Tigers are batting over .300 with Aidan Lopez leading the way with a .342 average to go along with a league-leading five triples, five doubles, one home run and 38 RBI. 
 
RHP Keyon Guillory currently paces the Grambling State starting rotation on the mound with a 4.94 ERA. He sports 3-2 record with 13 starts. 
 
Arkansas-Pine Bluff enters the weekend after dropping two of three games versus Bethune-Cookman. The Golden Lions rank fourth in the SWAC in batting average (.300) and ERA (6.15). 
 
UAPB is led offensively by Nick Hockmeyer who is currently batting .372 with 23 RBI, two doubles and one homer. Aaron Grant provides the power for the Golden Lions with seven home runs and sports a .345 average. 
 
LHP Ryland Morin leads UAPB on the mound. He's 5-2 with 12 starts and holds a .4.69 ERA.
