BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) recognized two Grambling State University women's soccer standouts Tuesday for their performances over the weekend.

Kaylen Jankans was named the SWAC Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Jaleah Gonzalez earned Newcomer of the Week honors.

Jankans anchored the Lady Tigers backline for all 90 minutes in Grambling State's 2-2 draw against Nicholls, helping limit the Colonels to 11 total shots.

Gonzalez delivered a clutch performance, scoring the equalizing goal in the 76th minute to help the Lady Tigers rally for the 2-2 draw. 

The goal marked the first of her collegiate career.
