RUSTON, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team earned its first win of the season Thursday evening, defeating the University of Louisiana Monroe, 2-0, at the Ruston Sports Complex.
The Lady Tigers opened the scoring in the 20th minute when
Nyla Dore-Anderson found the back of the net to give Grambling State a 1-0 advantage.
Grambling State carried its one-goal lead into the second half before Dore-Anderson struck again in the 82nd minute, with
Cariana Pou providing the assist to give the Lady Tigers a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Tigers finished the match with eight shots, including six on goal.
Goalkeeper
Alina Arneth recorded four saves to help secure the shutout.
Grambling State also earned four corner kicks.
ULM recorded nine shots, including four on goal, while goalkeeper Jen Handy made four saves.
The Tigers broke a three game losing streak dating back to 2022 against the Warhwawks with the 2-0 win.
With the victory, the Lady Tigers improve to 1-1-1 on the season.
