Allamont Bates enters his first season as the head women’s bowling coach at Grambling State University.
Bates joins Grambling State after more than three years as a successful bowling coach at Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, La. While at Captain Shreve, Bates developed the student-athletes by teaching the fundamentals of bowling, while devising strategic individual training programs.
Bates guides the boys program to two straight district championship (2021 and 2022), a regional playoff appearance in 2018 and state playoff appearances in 2019, 2021 and 2022. The 2021 team finished fourth in the state.
In addition to the team garnering attention, Bates had 26 all-district athletes, with two receiving a college scholarship.
The Shreveport, La. native has been a competitive bowler for more than 20 years, where he served as the TNBA Shreveport/Bossier President for five years.
Bates, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Management from Wiley College and a Master of Science in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University, is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
