Phil Zayas

Phil Zayas joins the GSU women's soccer program during the unprecedented spring 2021 season.

Coach Zayas recently served as the men's head soccer coach at Johnson & Wales University from 2010-2019.

Since his arrival in 2010, the JWU Men’s Soccer team made four appearances in the Sun Conference tournament, including a trip to the TSC semifinals in 2018 and the finals in 2019.

In November of 2017 Coach Zayas was hired part time by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) as a scout for the US youth national team program. Prior to working as a scout with US Soccer, Coach Zayas assisted the Haiti and Puerto Rico youth National teams.

He holds a USSF National B license and boasts 12 years of high school and club experience. Zayas was an assistant coach at St. Thomas University for three seasons.

Coach Zayas also spent three seasons as the head coach at American Heritage-Plantation, where he led them to two back-to-back state championships and was named "Dairy Farmer's Class AAA Coach of the Year" in 2010 along with being named the Broward County Coach of the Year twice - 2008 and 2009.
