Barry Doyle

Doyle comes to GSU after spending six seasons as the head coach of the Southern University women’s bowling team.
 
He guided the bowling team to back-to-back-back SWAC Regular Season Championships, as they claimed the 2023, 2024 and 2025 SWAC Regular Season Championship. 
 
He won three SWAC Coach of the Year awards, winning 2023, 2024 and 2025.During the 2022-2023 season Coach Doyle reached his 100th win in his career at Southern. 
 
Doyle took the Lady Jaguars back to the SWAC Championship match for the first time since 2011 in his second year where they finished as the SWAC runner-up. He guided Southern to a 53-49 record and a top-five finish in six of the eight tournaments. His first recruiting class had four signees from four different states. Out of those four signees, two earned first team All-SWAC and Freshman of the Year honors for their performances in the SWAC roundups.
 
During his first year at the helm, Coach Doyle was able to lead the Lady Jaguars to a third-place finish in the SWAC Championships.
 
Prior to taking over the bowling program, Doyle served as an assistant on the Southern staff during the 2019-2020 season.
 
During his more than 40 years of bowling, Doyle has competed in numerous tournaments throughout the country winning multiple singles, doubles, and team titles. He also competed in numerous PBA regionals in the southeast.
 
One of Doyle's most memorable tournament wins came in 2005 where he won the 40 Frame Game hosted during the USBC Open Championships held in Baton Rouge.
 
Doyle has over 10 perfect 300 games and numerous 800 series, with his high series being 854.
 
Doyle is a Baton Rouge, La. native and is a Southern University Laboratory School graduate where he played basketball for the 1987 State Championship team. He graduated from Southern University with a B.S in Mathematics.
 
He has three daughters -- Chantia, Allana and Allison.
