GRAMBLING, La.| Grambling State Director of Student-Athlete Development and Associate Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services, Denzel Lewis, is the recipient of the N4A Opportunities Scholarship to represent Grambling State at the 2022 N4A Convention in June. Lewis was also selected to participate as one of 50 members of the 2022 Effective Facilitation Workshop.
"Mr. Lewis prides himself on continuing his education as a life-long learner. He is a prime example of what being a servant leader is," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Dr. Trayvean Scott. "These honors come as no surprise as he continues to make incredible strides early on in his career."
The National Association for Academic Advisors of Athletics (N4A) is a diverse educational service and professional non-profit organization. The N4A Opportunities Scholarship is designed to support N4A members from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Low Resource Institutions (LRIs), Two-Year Colleges, and institutions/organizations experiencing financial hardship.
As a recipient of the scholarship, Lewis will represent Grambling State for the convention at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 26-29, 2022. The scholarship also supports membership dues for the 2022-2023 academic year and registration for the 2022 N4A Convention.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that N4A has created to aid in the development of our institutions," said Lewis. "As an HBCU Alumnus, I strive to create spaces for our student-athletes here at Grambling State to grow and advance them professionally beyond the game."
Along with that honor, Lewis was selected as one of 50 NCAA athletic administrators to participate in the 2022 NCAA Effective Facilitation. In this exclusive professional development experience, participants will receive personalized feedback on their leadership style and gain vital skills in active learning and engaging facilitation.
Lewis states, "As always, I am excited to expand my education, share my knowledge, and grow my network alongside 49 outstanding NCAA leaders and professionals from various institutions.
The program will take place June 23-24, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Westin Las Vegas Hotel & Spa.
