Tigers Drop Final Regular Season Game

HUNTSVILLE----The Grambling State University Tigers basketball team fell, 81-60, tonight to the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M in their regular season finale. 
 
In the first half Grambling drew first blood and set the stage for an entertaining first half that featured five ties and nine lead changes with The Tigers holding a lead 23-21 as late as 6:43 remaining in the half before the Bulldogs would charge back and ran out to a 41-27 lead at the break. Grambling struggled offensively shooting only 30-percent while AAMU made 45-percent. Grambling also trialed on the boards as the Bulldogs out rebounded them 24-19.
 
In the second half the G-Men never could find their footing as the Bulldogs pulled away and led by as much as 65-40. The Tigers shot 33-percent from the field while the Bulldogs hit 45-percent of their shots. 
 
Grambling was led in scoring by Kevin Lloyds 10 point's. Lance Fuertado turned in eight points and eight rebounds.
 
Corneilius Hester had a game high 18 points to lead the Bulldogs. Casey Cantey added 17 points and nine rebounds. Marcus Lee and Bo Amusa had 11 and 10 points respectively.
 
Entering tonight's game a win would have guaranteed the Tigers post season play. However,  despite the setback the Tigers will make a return after a two-year hiatus to the 2010 Farmers Insurance SWAC Basketball Tournament by virtue over a Texas Southern 66-62 win over GSU's in-state rival Southern. GSU will face the Tigers of Jackson State Wednesday at 8 pm at the Centry-Tel Arena in Bossier City, LA..
