GRAMBLING--- The Grambling State Lady Tigers Volleyball team played their home opener Monday nighht but unfortunately loss both games of a double header as they fell 0-3 to Nicholls State and 0-3 to McNeese State both of the Southland Conference.
In game one of the evening the Lady Tigers fell 9-25, 15-25 and 16-25 to the Lady Colonels in a game in which they never got on track.
Vanessa Brown led Grambling with six kills; while
Tiara McIver had five kills, two assists and two assisted blocks.
Chelsee Goins added a kill, four assists and 28 digs. Nicholls State's Sarah Terry had a game high 10 kills with six assists and three assisted blocks.
In the night cap Grambling put up a valiant effort despite being physically and emotionally spent from the previous game and gave the Cowgirls all they could handle in each game before falling 18-25, 19-25 and 17-25. Grambling was led by
Asia Drenon nine kills and six digs and Goins one kill and 19 digs. McNeese's Carton had 13 kills with Bekelja adding five kills and 20 assists.
Grambling will return to action this weekend when they travel south to Thibodaux to participate in the Nicholls State Tournament.
