Grambling Predicted to win the West

All- SWAC team Announced

Grambling, La. (July 19, 2012) – It was announced at the 2012 Southwestern Athletic Conference's Media Day that the Grambling State University football team has been selected to win the conference's Western Division.

 

The 2012 Preseason All- Conference teams were also announced, taking top honors was Dawrence Roberts being named to the Preseason All-SWAC 1st-team Offense as well as Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Roberts rushed for 1,102 yards during his 2011 campaign. He averaged 5.5 yards per carry en route to eight touchdowns and averaged 110.2 yards per game.

 

Joining Roberts on the 1st-team offense was OL Sanford Banks. GSU's Carter duo of defensive lineman Devon Carter and linebacker Jacarde Carter round out the Tigers' first team selections; both landed on the Preseason All-SWAC 1st-team Defense.

 

Clint Marsh (OL) was named to the 2nd-team Offense. Defensive backs Naquan Smith and Tyree Hollins were both named to the 2nd-team Defense.

 

Fabian Carter (P) was named to the 2nd-team Specialists to complete the awards for Grambling State Football Pre-Season Awards.

 

The preseason All-SWAC teams were selected by the league coaches, Sports Information Directors and selected members of the media.
