Box Score STARKVILLE, Miss (February 20, 2013) – The Grambling State University Baseball Team gave the #5 Mississippi State Bulldogs all they could handle yesterday, but lost a tight game to the Bulldogs by the score of 2-0.
Once again the Tigers may have lost on the scoreboard, but had more hits. Grambling was led in hitting on the night by
Darren Farmer and
Jose Longoria, who both had two hits.
Defensively, the Tigers only committed one error. This is just the second time this season that Mississippi State has been held to two runs or less. “Our goal each game is to play error free ball”, said Head coach
James Cooper. “We tell the guys about timely hitting, and playing solid defense. We just came up a little bit short tonight.”
Mississippi State had two runs off of five hits and no errors, while the Tigers finished the game with no runs, six hits, and only one error on the night. Brandon Woodruff (0-1) picked up the win for the Bulldogs, while the Tigers
Brock Baker (0-1) got the loss.
Next up for the Tigers is a three game series against Georgia State in Atlanta. The first game of the three game series is on Friday at 4 p.m. Games two and three of the series on Saturday and Sunday will take place at 1 p.m. each day.
