Box Score GRAMBLING, Louisiana (February 23th, 2013) – The Grambling Tiger Baseball Team picked up their first win of the season as they beat Georgia State on the road Saturday Afternoon by the score of 9-4.
The Tigers were down early in the first two innings as Georgia State scored one run in the first and a run in the second. Grambling would score in the top of the third inning as
Juan Bueno hit a solo shot to bring the Tigers within a run at 2-1. Georgia State would put two more runs up on the board in the bottom of that inning and they would lead by the count of 4-1
The Tigers would own the rest of the game as the bats would heat up and the pitching dominated. The Tigers would put up eight runs over the next six innings, while the arms of
Richard Bautista and
Zach Moreau would hold the Panthers to just five hits for the rest of the game. The pitching combined for six strikeouts and the Tigers had a total of 14 hits in the game.
Juan Bueno was a big part of the day as he was stellar at the plate. Bueno had four hits in six plate appearances, including a homerun. He also scored three runs and had an RBI. Other big hitters at the plate were
Elias Todman, who was four of five at the plate with two RBI's.
For the game the Tigers had nine runs off of 14 hits and two errors. Georgia State had four runs off of nine hits with four errors.
Richard Bautista picked up his first win of the season and
Zach Moreau got the save.
The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow for the final game of the three game series against Georgia State. Game time for the Tigers and the Panthers will be at 12 noon.
