Tigers Unleash the Bats Against the Panthers

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GRAMBLING, Louisiana (April 6, 2013) – The Grambling State University Tigers (GSU) swept the double header from Prairie View A&M on Saturday by the score of 10-0 in game one and 9-1 in game 2 at Wilbert Ellis Field at R.W.E. Jones Park. 
 
In game one the Grambling Tigers won by the score of 10-0 in seven innings.  Both teams were scoreless in the first two innings and then in the third inning the Tigers Darren Farmer hit an RBI triple and would later score off of a wild pitch making the score 2-0.
 
The bats would remain quiet until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Tigers would explode for five runs.  Juan Bueno started the inning with a solo home run making the score 3-0.  After a walk by Jose Longoria and a single by Darren Farmer, Brandon Kiser hit a base clearing double making the score 5-0.  Then with Kiser on first base with two outs, Korey Hall hit a two run home run making the score 7-0.
 
Then in the bottom of the 7th inning the Tigers would need three runs to run rule the Panthers.  Elias Todman started the inning with a single and then a walk by Edwin Drexler.  Juan Bueno tripled into left field knocking in two runs making the score 9-0.  Jose Longoria would come in and single scoring Bueno from third base and the Tigers would win by the score of 10-0 in seven innings.
 
The Tigers had 10 runs off of 13 hits and no errors.  The Panthers had no runs just six hits and no errors.  Brock baker picked up the win for the Tigers and Johnathan Mata gets the loss for Prairie View A&M. 
 
In game two the Tigers picked up right where they left off.  The Tigers and Panthers would both be scoreless until the third inning when the Tigers pushed two runs across the plate.  Juan Bueno walked and then Darren Farmer would triple later in the inning scoring Bueno from third making the score 1-0.  Farmer would later score after the Panther pitching threw a wild pitch making the score 2-0.
 
The Tigers added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Richard Bautista would hit an RBI single increasing the GSU lead to 3-0.  The Tigers really hit the gas as they scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning making the score 8-0.  Brandon Kiser would homer in the seventh inning making the score 9-0.
 
 
Prairie View would score one run in the in the top of the eighth inning, but that would be all that the Tigers would allow as they would win by the score of 9-1.  The Tiger had nine runs off of 11 hits and no errors, while the Panthers had one run off of four hits and no errors.  Matt Mitchell picked up the win for the Tigers.
 
The Tigers and Panthers will wrap up their three game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wilbert Ellis Field at R.W.E. Jones Park.
