GSU Men's Basketball Team Beats Selma, 98-53

Tigers lead by double digits much of the game

Grambling State University demolished Selma University, 98-53, on home court at the Hobdy Assembly Center Monday (Nov. 30)..
 
The Tigers led Selma 46-27 in the first half of the game, and Selma tried to make a comeback but just could not keep up with GSU.
 
Tiger Arnold Richmond played a great game, scoring a game high 22 points. The second leading scorer was Carlton Lowe with 12 points. There were some exciting plays during the game, including one when Remond Brown stole the ball, did a behind-the-back cross over and scored at 8:32 in the first half.
 
Grambling State kept a steady double-digit lead through out the first half and continued to keep that lead the rest of the game.
 
Nigel Riberio picked up in the second half scoring a 3-pointer at 17:52 early in the second half. He scored another 2 points at 15:35, then a 3-pointer with 15:05 remaining in the half.
 
With a 32-point lead and 8:50 remaining in the second half, the Tigers knew they were walking away with their second win of the season.
 
 "Winning any college game is hard," head basketball coach Shawn Walker said after the game. "We haven't had a lot wins but we are 2-5 now. We are happy about the win. We play Marquette Wednesday and it gives us a chance to show everyone our improvements.

"This was a game we should have won and did. We have to continue to get better and build on tonight's game. It was important for us to win and not embarrass Selma. Our goal was to win."
 
The Grambling State Tigers take on Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wednesday (Dec. 2) at 7 p.m.
