Box Score New Orleans, La.—Grambling State scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat rival Southern University 6-1 toady at Barrow Stadium in New Orleans. The Tigers finished the contest with eight hits, while Southern tallied six.
Andre Wilson (1-0) picked up the win for the Tigers, allowing six hits, one earned run and striking out seven in the 25 batters faced. GSU had two more pitchers to toe the rubber. Creighton Hoover pitched one inning striking out three in the five batters faced. Brennan Williams pitched one inning of relief who faced one batter.
Diaz, Roger, and Medina gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead as they scored on a Edwin Drexler triple to third base in the bottom of the sixth inning. Followed by Drexler scoring which put the score at 4-0.
Next, the Grambling State University Tigers (2-3) will take on Alcorn State University Saturday, Feb. 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the University of New Orleans in day two of the MLB Urban Youth Invitational.
