Box Score Baton Rouge, La. – The Grambling State University Lady Tigers suffered a tough 52-80 loss to the Lady Jaguars of Southern University Saturday afternoon in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
The Lady Tigers were off to a good start leading by five points at the 16:42 mark in the first half. Following the lead, the Lady Jaguars secured the lead by 19 at the 1:49 mark in the first half. Coming into the second half the Lady Tigers trailed the Lady Jaguars by 15 points.
Shakierya McClendon and Shanice Poole both contributed six points each, in the first half for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers rallied in the second half and couldn't secure the victory for Grambling State. Junior guard
Yosha Watson dominated on the court for the Lady Tigers contributing 17 points and 11 rebounds. Followed by junior point guard Shakierya McClendon contributing 10 points and four steals. Defensively junior guard
Yosha Watson led the team with seven rebounds. For the Lady Jaguars Britney Washington contributed to their victory with 21 points and 10 boards followed by Kendra Coleman with 19 points and three rebounds.
Next, the Lady Tigers (7-14, 4-6) will travel to take on the Lady Braves of Alcorn State University in a Southwestern Athletic Conference match-up on Monday, Feb. 9
th at 5:30 p.m.
