Box Score 3 BATON ROUGE, La. – The Grambling State University Tigers baseball team took the field as the visiting team at Lee-Hines Field as they took on Southwestern Athletic Conference rival Southern University dropping a 0-3 decision this past weekend.
Southern University took both games of the double, 1-10 and GSU dropping game two 6-9. Southern secured the final victory of the series 4-3 on Sunday.
Game One:
The Jaguars started the scoring in the second and third inning, to take an early 2-0 lead. GSU responded with one run in the top of the fourth. The fifth inning remained scoreless for both teams. In the bottom of the sixth inning SU sealed the contest away with seven additional runs. SU added its final score in the bottom of the seventh. Trey Bell secured the point for the Tigers on
Robert Lopez double to left field.
Game Two:
Grambling and Southern went into game two ready to play but the outcome was in favor of the Jaguars. The Jaguars up 4-0 going into the top of the fifth, the Tigers secured two points making the competition 4-2.
Angel Peguero singled to right field to score
Edwin Drexler recording a runner batted in. Due to an error on the center fielder for the Jaguar the Tigers were able to capitalize securing another point.
The Tigers added three more point in the top of the eighth inning making it a one point game. The Tigers shouldn't hold off SU who answered with adding three points as well in the bottom of the inning securing the victory.
Game Three:
The Jaguars scored back-to-back homeruns, taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Grambling Tigers scored one run in the top of the second inning before scoring two in the fifth. In the fifth and sixth inning, Southern scored two more points to secure the victory. Next, The GSU Tigers will host Louisiana Tech on Tuesday, March 31
