Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Grambling State University squared off against Alabama A&M University in its opening round of the 2015 Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball tournament, defeating the Bulldogs 8-3.
 
The Tigers took an early 4-1 lead in the top of the first, when Roger Diaz's single to right field scored Dylan Spearman and Edwin Drexler, recording two runners batted in. Jaiden France's single to right center brought home Roger Diaz and Yariel Medina, recording two runners batted in. In the fifth inning, Dylan Spearman's hit to center field brought home Edwin Drexler, recording a runner batted in.
 
In the sixth, Jaiden France flied out to center field brought home Tray Bell, recording a runner batted in. In the top of the eighth, Angel Peguero reached first base on an error by the pitcher and advanced to second on the throw, which brought home Roger Diaz. In the final inning of the competition, Roger Diaz flied out to right field, which brought home Yariel Medina and recorded a runner batted in, securing the Tigers' final point.
 
Ike O'Bear took the win on the mound, moving to 3-6 of the season, while Creighton Hoover received the save.
 
The GSU Tigers will face the Tigers of Texas Southern University at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
