Grambling State University Defeat Texas Southern to Advance to the Semi-Finals

Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Grambling State University Tigers baseball team took the field as the home team at Wesley Barrow Stadium on Thursday, as they looked to tame the visiting Tigers of Texas Southern University. GSU secured a 6-0 victory to advance to the semi-finals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

Grambling came into the game ready to play as the outcome was in favor of GSU. Larry Barraza and Jaiden France led Grambling at the plate.  The pair each earned two hits in the win.  Barraza also contributed a run.  The night belonged to Dion Holbrook and Grambling State's defense.  Holbrook pitched 8.2 scoreless innings, walking just three of the 34 batters faced.
Grambling State opened strong.  Edwin Drexler led off with a single up the middle and stole second.  He moved to third on Barraza's single to right field.  And Dylan Spearman then hit a two RBI single to left center that put the Tigers up 3-0.  They would get one more across before starter Seth Oliver struck out Desmond Stegall to end the inning.
 
 Next, The GSU Tigers will play on May 15 at 6 p.m. in the semi-finals, the opponent will be announced pending the outcome of the Alcorn State vs. Texas Southern University game.
