Box Score 3 GRAMBLING, La. – The Grambling State University Tigers baseball team took the field as the home team at R.W.E. Jones Park on Saturday afternoon, as they looked to tame the visiting Jaguars of Southern University. Despite being back in familiar territory on the diamond, GSU dropped a 0-3 decision this weekend.
Southern University secured the series victory 4-11, 4-11 and 16-12.
Game One:
Southern scored first to take an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Dylan Spearman secured the point for the Tigers in the bottom of the first inning to bring home
Yariel Medina, recording a runner batted in. Spearman secured two points for the Tigers in the bottom of the third inning, hitting a home run which brought home
Dee Brown and recorded two runners batted in.
Roger Diaz singled, bringing home
Yariel Medina, securing GSU's final point of the competition. SU responded with four runs in the remaining four innings to secure the 4-11 victory.
Game Two:
Grambling and Southern went into game two ready to play, but the outcome was in favor of SU. The GSU Tigers secured an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Edwin Drexler, recording a runner batted in.
Roger Diaz's single brought home
Dylan Spearman and
Tray Bell, recording two runners batted in.
Dylan Spearman also singled, bringing home
Tray Bell, securing GSU's final point of the competition. The GSU Tigers couldn't hold off SU, who answered with seven more points in the remaining four innings of the competition, securing the victory 11-4.
Game Three:
Desmond Stegall's singled, bringing home
Angel Peguero and
Roger Diaz, making the score 4-3 in favor of Grambling. Southern started to put points on the board, adding three in the top of the fifth inning and tying the game 9-9. The Grambling Tigers answered by adding one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, making it a four-point game.
Dylan Spearman singled, bringing home Brown and Drexler, recording two runners batted in and securing the final two points of the competition in the bottom of the ninth inning. The GSU Tigers couldn't hold off SU, who answered with seven more points in the remaining four innings of the competition, securing the victory 16-12.
Next, The GSU Tigers will play its final home game of the season as they host Alcorn State University on Tuesday, May 5 at 6 p.m.
