The Lady Tigers to Face ULM in Monroe

The Lady Tigers will play against the Lady Warhawks of the University of Louisiana at Monroe Tuesday, November 15, at 6 p.m. in the Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe, La.

Grambling has done fairly well when facing ULM in the past seasons. These two teams have met 10 times since the first in 1979, and the Lady Tigers lead the series 6-4.

ULM has a pretty well balanced team with an even amount of lower and upper classmen. The Lady Warhawks won their season opener against Centenary College, 83-59, but lost on the road to the University of Arkansas, 92-46.

One key player to watch is senior forward Stephanie Ratliff who started the season with a double-double, 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ratliff is 6'3" and will definitely need to be contained by the Lady Tigers. Another key player is junior guard Alexis Collins who scored 19 points and had 5 assists against Centenary. Collins was also the leading scorer against Arkansas with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Two other players who performed well are sophomore

Dani Anderson and senior guard Andreanna Jackson. Anderson is 6'0" and also had a double-double in the season opener, 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jackson contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds against Arkansas.

Grambling guards Shakyla Hill, Monisha Neal, and Jazmine Boyd will have a nice match-up to Collins and Jackson. The challenge will be at the center position for the Lady Tigers as they will need to perform well defensively and keep Ratliff and Anderson off the boards.

ULM finished (12-17) overall, and (6-14) in the Sun Belt conference play. Grambling finished (17-14) overall, and (13-5) in SWAC conference play. The Lady Tigers had a better 2015-2016 performance and had the best scoring offense in the conference.

This will be the second game of the 2016-2017 season for Grambling, and ULM's third game of the season. Although the Lady Warhawks have had more time to work out the kinks, the Lady Tigers still have a great opportunity to claim their first victory.
