Box Score

Texas Southern University trailed Grambling State University 6-1 in the third inning, the game was tied 14-14 in the top of the 13th inning then TSU scored seven run s to win 21-14.

Grambling State (6-12; 4-2 SWAC) lost Sunday's game but won the weekend series 2-1. GSU beat TSU Friday and Saturday. Texas Southern was having a tough day when they decided they would not be swept.

Gridlocked at 14-14 at the top of the 13th inning TSU (8-13, 4-5 SWAC) got a rally started when Olajide Oloruntimilehin hit a single.  Next, Charles Guillory singled to right field. With two runners on, Gerreck Jimenez doubled to right field, bringing in Orloruntimilehin and Guillory. TSU led 16-14.

Ryan Lazo laid down a bunt, bringing home Guillory. Joel Rosario stepped to the plate and drilled a two-run double to center field. TSU teased the lead to 19-14.

Christopher Scroggins hit a RBI triple and Andre Moore popped a sacrifice fly ball, bringing home Scroggins.

Seth Oliver closed the game out for TSU, not allowing GSU's Nick Wheeler, Diamyn Hall or Angel Peguero to get their explosive bats going, as they had earlier in the weekend series.

Early in the game, in the first inning, it seemed GSU was going for a weekend sweep. With runners on base, Grambling State third baseman Daniel Barnett hit a one run double, then first baseman Tray Bell smoked a two run double.

Second baseman Larry Barraza took his turn at bat, whacking a single to center field and stealing second base. Darien Brown hit a RBI single then got caught stealing second. Catcher Andres Castillo was hit by a pitch and right fielder Nick Wheeler singled. GSU jumped out to a 4-1 led after one inning.

Shortstop Wesley Drain got free bases on a walk and Barnett crushed a long bomb over the outfield wall. GSU had a commanding five run lead, but it didn't hold up. Barnett has six homeruns on the season.

GSU's next game is at home Tuesday (March 22) at 6 p.m. against Jarvis Christian.
