Although Jackson State elected to receive the ball first, the team would not maintain possession for long as turnovers allowed the G-Men to get in scoring position. With 12:39 left in the first quarter, a 51 yard pass from quarterback
Devante Kincade to wide receiver
Chad Williams moved the score to 7-0. Grambling's defense, led by defensive coordinator
Everett Todd, worked hand in hand as defensive back
Guy Stallworth took down several of his opponents. His teammate,
Joseph McWilliams from Baton Rouge was at the right place at the right time as he snapped up a 62 yard interception touchdown return with 7:08 left in the first quarter, 14-0.
At halftime the Tigers were leading by 21 points with Jackson State remaining scoreless. The second half of the game resulted to consistent turnovers from J-State, including a fumble that was picked up by Grambling's

The G-Men had quite a few turnovers in the third quarter including a fumble that was picked up on the 12 yard line by Derrick Bobo of Jackson State.

Jestin Kelly, at the 8:44 mark, gave the Tigers a 35-7 lead. J-State retaliated with a 14 yard pass from Juwan Adams to Miguel James with 6:56 left in the game, and it would be the last time both times would score for the night, 35-14.
"It was kind of an ugly win but I love ugly wins. I thought Jackson State did a good job of really slowing us down a little bit. I'm very pleased with our defense; very physical tonight, scoring two touchdowns. I'm thankful for the win. We're 1-0 in conference now. We're looking forward to next week," said Coach Fobbs.
Grambling will host High School Day and take on Alcorn State University at home in the Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
