The Grambling State University Tigers (2-1 overall, 2-0 SWAC) defeated the Braves of Alcorn State University (1-2 overall, 1-2 SWAC) 46-18 in Grambling at the Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium.
The G-Men started the first quarter aggressively on the defensive end forcing the Braves to a loss of yards on back to back possessions. The Braves could not find an answer to contend the G-Men's defense. Offensively, quarterback

Martez Carter to score the G-Men's first touchdown completing a 17-yard pass from Kincade at the 7:07 mark. Alcorn's defense forced a safety with 2:35 left in the first. The G-Men led 7-2 heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the G-Men stayed aggressive defensively forcing a safety early in the quarter. The G-Men struggled with their offense as the Braves pressured Kincade forcing Grambling to turn over the ball. Defensive end Ramonte Bell forced Grambling's Carter to fumble giving the Braves possession. The Braves still could not make anything happen offensively. Grambling held their lead ending the half, 16-8.
In the third quarter, the Braves progressed up the field aggressively against the G-Men, but it would not be enough to get in the end zone. The Braves kicked a field goal bringing the score to 11-16. The G-Men could not be stopped offensively. Wide receiver
Verlan Hunter completed a 20-yard pass from Kincaid giving the G-Men a 23-11 lead with 5:38 left. The Braves could not get anything going offensively and turned over the ball late in the quarter. Grambling's defensive back
T'Kevian Rockwell forced a fumble and the G-Men recovered the ball at the 5:08 mark. Grambling's Kincade took a 7-yard run for the end zone putting the G-Men up 29-11 to end the quarter.
In the fourth quarter both teams remained scoreless until Grambling's Williams ran for a 67-yard touchdown with 8:28 left. Alcorn gained a little momentum with an 87-yard kick return from wide receiver Marquis Warford. Grambling still led 36-18 with 8:08 to go in the game. The G-Men's defense continued to dominate Alcorn keeping them out of the end zone. Grambling's Carter rushed for 47-yards for another G-Men touchdown stretching the lead to 43-18. Defensive back
Derrick Dixon caught an interception with just under four minutes to go in the game putting the Braves at a 25-point deficit. Grambling would win the game, 43-18.
"If we protect the football, and play crisp, and play sharp, and play fast there aren't too many teams that can play with us. It's strictly up to us. We have to go back to the drawing board and be ready for next week," said head coach

The Grambling State University G-Men will be heading to Dallas, TX on Saturday, Oct. 1, for the annual State Fair Classic game against Prairie View A&M University. The game begins at 4p.m. at the Cotton Bowl.
