GRAMBLING, La. (Women's basketball) -- The Grambling State University Lady Tiger women's basketball team will take the show on the road as they head to Houston, Texas for a match up with Texas Southern University on Saturday, Jan. 14.
Coach Fred Murray and the Lady Tigers look to capitalize of their 86-63 victory over Alcorn State University on Monday night in the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
In that contest,
Shakyla Hill and
Monisha Neal were the leaders for the team with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Neal also led the team in rebounds with eight total boards.
For the Lady Tigers to win, Hill and Neal must repeat their performance and more.
John'ea Thompson must be a force in the paint as she has been all season to ensure a W in favor of GSU.
The Lady Tigers will have to contend with Joyce Kennerson who currently leads Texas Southern averaging 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and has accumulated 31 steals. In the paint, Thompson will have to contain Artavia Ford as she is the force in the middle for TSU. Ford is currently averaging 6.6 rebounds, 13.1 points, and have racked up 18 blocks.
